About Our Club

Longdon Flying Club is a friendly club offering facilities for Radio Controlled aircraft.

We fly both IC and electric power aircraft, scale and non scale up to a wingspan of 75 inches, and gliders up to 3 meters.

Our field is located in a lay-by alongside the main A51 trunk road between Lichfield and Rugely, about a mile north of its junction with the A515 on the right hand side.

Our field allows members to fly 7 days per week and 365 days per year, flying times for electric 10.00 to dusk. IC powered 10.00 19.00 with a further concession to dusk provided aircraft keep to the right hand side of the field. Dusk is determined by light conditions on any given day.

We are a BMFA affiliated club and all pilots must hold valid BMFA insurance.

We cater to all levels of pilot from novice to expert, and offer limited training facilities for novice pilots. In some cases total beginners will be asked to take a couple of lessons from a local flying school before we place them with a club instructor, to enable them to pass their A test more quickly. No pilots may fly solo unless they hold a BMFA A certificate.

Non members may fly up to 4 times per year but need to be signed in by a member, who is then responsible for the activities of that person. They must also hold an A Certificate and BMFA insurance.

Interested in joining us? Please feel free to visit our field and speak to us or contact one of the club officers via this site.
